This ship belonged to the large and successful "Slava Rossii" class of ships of the line (built from 1733 to 1774 in St. Petersburg and Arkhangelsk; 58 vessels in total), known for their seaworthiness, maneuverability, and stability. "Three Hierarchs" was one of the key ships of the first major ocean expedition of the Russian fleet from the Baltic to the Mediterranean, and a symbol of the Chesme victory.
